Calistrat Hogaș

Calistrat Hogaș is the cousin of the Teodorescus that I have been researching.

I know that Calistrat is a famous Romanian writer and I would like to know more about his family members.

I know his parents were Priest Gheorghe Dimitriu and Mioarei Stanciu.

Calistrat married Elena Gheorghiu on 17 Jan 1871, presumably in Romania.

They had eight children (not in this order):

* Cleopatra, who married Emanoil Ivan Silberg.
* Cecilia (1878-1926).
* Aetiu (1880-1941).
* Cornelia.
* Elena.
* Sidonia, who set up the museum to her father in Piatra Neamt (31 Jan 1882 - 19 Apr 1976).
* Marioara.
* Unknown name.

Wikipedia has the following reference document but I cannot find it online:

I would really appreciate any help in finding more details about Calistrat's family.

The biographical dictionary published by "Paralela 45" has very small articles, with almost no genealogical data. For Calistrat Hogaș only his parents are mentioned.

There is more information about Hogaș at pages 672-673 in the book linked below, which you can download for free at the Internet Archive. However, apart from his parents, his genealogy is not discussed.

In the communist period there was a series of books about cultural and historical personalities, named "Pe urmele lui ...", which can be translated as "Tracing the footsteps of ...". These biographical books always included a more detailed section about the genealogy of the personality.

Both bookshops linked below send books outside the country, but you must contact them and they will tell you the total price for the book and the delivery. Of course, if you know someone in Rumania, you can ask him/her to buy the book, scan the pages with genealogical data and send them to you by e-mail.
