I have another Teodorescu family member that I am trying to research: Traian Teodorescu.

Traian is the brother of August, Eleonora, Smaranda, and Vasile Teodorescu.  He is the son of Gheorghe Teodorescu and Zoia Stanciu.

Traian was born on 2 September 1859 in Galati, per his ETH Zurich University records, where he studied in the late 1880s.

Prior to his studies at ETH Zurich University, Traian had invented a new type of submarine.  I think he may have obtained a patent in London, England.  Traian may have tried to build it in Munich, Germany with his brother August and also in Zurich, Switzerland.  I think he eventually gave up on it.

By the mid 1890s, Traian was back in Romania and working as an engineer.

At some stage, presumably in about 1910, Traian married a widow of a Russian colonel, possibly in Bucharest.  This marriage is thought to have lasted two months, and she may have returned to Russia.

I think Traian remained in Bucharest until his death in mid February 1920.

The only proof I have of Traian is his Zurich University record, the submarine patent, some newspaper articles, and some family stories.

I am looking for his birth, marriage and death records, as well as any other interesting evidence of Traian.

Do you have his Matrikel (Studentendossier) from ETH? If not, i can request it next time i stop by the Hochschularchiv.

Hi Andrei.

Yes, I think so.  Here is the link to it:

This education record was how I found his date of birth of 2 September 1859.

RPS

Thank you so much Petrus.  ETH Zurich had told me that they did not have records of August attending their university, so it is amazing that you found this record, and it includes his birth date.

Petrus

The alternative spelling of Theodorescu may have been the reason.

Petrus - you are correct.  Iconom Gheorghe Teodorescu is Traian's father.  Gheorghe served at the Mavromol parish in the mid to late 1800s.

When I read the Archiva Moldaviae document, Google Translate kept giving me different translations.  Sometimes it said Gheorghe was the head of the Galati School, and other times it said that Gheorghe's wife was the head of the Galati School. Can you please tell me which version is correct?
